Medically Monitored Detox Treatment
Medically Monitored Detox at Palm Springs
Whether you or a loved one is struggling, addiction is scary. What starts as a seemingly harmless bad habit can quickly lead to rock bottom. It can be difficult to admit that there is a problem and ask for help, but don’t let shame or embarrassment keep you or your loved one from getting treatment. At Banyan Palm Springs, we are here to walk you through the first step of the treatment process, drug detoxification.
What Is Drug Detoxification?A drug detoxification or drug detox is the process of weaning the body off of a substance that it has become dependent on. Detox typically includes a variety of withdrawal symptoms that are both physical and psychological and will vary in severity as well as length depending on the substance being abused, the severity of the addiction, and the person’s overall health. Some common withdrawal symptoms can include tremors, headaches, nausea, and intense drug cravings. A drug detox is typically the first step in the treatment process for recovering addicts as they need to be clean before they can start addressing issues like why they use in the first place.
While some people may choose to try and detox at home, because of inevitable withdrawal symptoms that can escalate into more serious problems if ignored, it is always suggested that people attend a formal drug detox center.
Our Palm Springs Drug Detox CenterAt Banyan Palm Springs, we understand the risks that come with detoxing off of certain drugs once the body has become dependent on it. Whether you are looking for opiate or alcohol detox, withdrawal symptoms are an unfortunate part of getting sober. For some people, the symptoms may simply be uncomfortable, but for others, detox could even be life-threatening if unsupervised. Our goal is to create a detox that is as safe and comfortable as possible for our patients.
In order to best manage these the side effects of a drug detox, before the process even begins, we give each patient a full medical assessment to better understand their current state of health as well as the likelihood of secondary problems arising from the detox process. Because of the health risks associated with detox, our California drug detox facility offers a medically monitored drug detox that includes 24-hour support and medical staff on hand to immediately address any side effects that arise. While the detox process does involve negative withdrawal symptoms that are mostly inevitable, we do our best to make our patients as comfortable as possible and focus on minimizing these effects as much as we can.
Once our patients successfully complete the medically monitored detox and become clean, they are typically transferred to our residential addiction treatment program to continue their treatment process. Here they will partake in a variety of programs and therapies to focus on the other aspects of addiction beyond their body’s physical dependence and prepare to reenter the real world.
If you or a loved one is struggling with a substance abuse problem, do not wait to get help. Our Palm Springs drug rehab works with patients who have become dependent on a variety of substances and are struggling to get back on their own. Let us help you on this journey.
Our mission, your recovery.
